Fossils
"Ghost Ranch" - Hundreds of skeletons of Coelophysis are the main feature of this rich deposit from the Late Triassic period.
"The Petrified Forest" - A range of reptiles and amphibians are found among the huge deposits of fossil wood from the Late Triassic period.
"Morrison Formation" - This vast deposit from the Late Jurassic continues to provide new fossils and is widely regarded as one of the best fossil sites in the world.
"Solnhofen Limestone" - Made famous by the discovery of the first fossil bird, Archaeopteryx, this site contains beautifully preserved marine fossils from the Late Jurassic period.
"Oxford Clay" - This deposit underlies much of southern England and contains large marine reptiles and an abundance of other sea life from the Late Jurassic.
"Wealden Formation" - This deposit spreads across western Europe and has produced a variety of fossils from the Late Cretaceous including many Iguanodon.
"Santana Formation" - Excellently preserved fossils of flying reptiles, fish and small marine organisms from the Early Cretaceous are found in characteristic nodules.
"Dinosaur Cove" - Miners and explosives have been used to recover fossils of polar dinosaurs from this hard stone from the Early Cretaceous period.
"Hell Creek" - This deposit contains the last of the dinosaurs including Tyrannosaurus and spans the dinosaur extinction in the end of the Late Cretaceous period.
